Looks great but hard to assemble
Reasonable price; arrived in time for my needs. Looks very nice once assembled.
Parts seem to be mismatched; assembly was difficult. Buyers without mechanical skills and tools might not be able to assemble the product without damaging it.
ProsThe 3.5 inch globes look great on their light string. The light string quality was better than expected. It should survive being put up and taken down several times, unlike really cheap Christmas light strings.
ConsDON'T buy this product unless you are mechanically-minded and have a pair of needle-nose pliers!
Assembly requires fitting a little metal part inside each globe to stretch the lantern, then attaching that part to the light string. The lights, stretchers and globes were not compatible in the set I received.
I broke the fragile weld on one stretcher trying to squeeze it into the 3.5" globe; I think the stretchers as designed to fit the 4" globes.
I found that I could get the stretchers to fit by bending the little metal loops on the top of the globes upward sharply to nearly vertical. It would very easy to tear the paper globe while doing this if one isn't VERY careful.
Then with 9 of 10 globes assembled, I find that the stretcher is too tight to fit onto the light sockets. I had to disassemble the globes, use pliers to enlarge the "hanger" opening in the stretchers, then reassemble the globes and FINALLY hang the 9 undamaged globes on the 10 lights. I was able to repair the 10th stretcher with a tiny piece of brass tubing.
The final result is beautiful, but it took about two hours. Next time I might be able to do it in 30 minutes.
