I notice the single bulb kit says max 60 watt bulb and recommended for 12" lantern or bigger. Does that mean I can't use it with this lantern listed as 10" wide?

Answer:
The restriction on the single socket is to prevent the cord from being burnt out. However, you may use a single socket cord in a 10" or 12" or bigger lantern. As long as the opening is wide enough for the socket to drop into. For instance, the 10" White and 12" lantern has approximate measurements of: (top opening) 4 inches, (bottom) 3 inches. There is also a metal wire frame that expands the lanterns into shape, this is about 1/16th of an inch thick.
