Our battery terminals operate on 2 AA batteries (not included), uses a small candelabra bulb (included) to illuminate your lanterns without the hassle of having electrical cord kits. Each terminal has a burn time of 5 -7 hours on one set of batteries. Has a on/off switch on the side of the terminal. Use with any lanterns above 10".

Comes with a clip that hangs on metal part of paper lantern if you do not want to use the flexible cord. Two options for hanging, either clip onto the metal expander, or hang with the flexible cord inside the lantern.

This terminal has a incandescent bulb, so the light is a amber glow.

Perfect!
By Crystal from Fishers, IN on April 24, 2012
I purchased 20 of these to put into the paper lanterns that I also bought from here for use as decor for my wedding. Because my wedding is outdoors, I needed lighting that did not require cords and these were by far the most inexpensive options. I was afraid that they would not put off enough light, but I was surprised by how much light there was. Just perfect for setting a romantic feel!
Pros:
Price
Amount of light
Fast shipping

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Hanging Battery Terminal
By Dominic from Atlanta, Georgia on February 3, 2012
Very easy to use - a complete joy to not have wires to deal with. Not quite as bright as I would have liked (used with 16" white paper lantern) - they didnt show up well until it was quite dark - and then they looked just perfect. I ran them for 4 hours and they didnt seem to have got any dimmer over that time.
Pros:
No wires - lanterns looked excellent when it got dark. They have a switch.
Cons:
Not quite bright enough. When you're done with the party you have a whole bunch of half used batteries - I'm not sure if there is enough juice left in the batteries for the next party.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Pros:
Convenient
Cons:
The cost of the batteries.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

light bulbs quickly kill the battery life.
By Katie from Atlanta, GA on February 1, 2012
They are lightweight and easy to install but the light bulb uses the battery up way too quickly. I tried to use it as a nightlight but the battery dies within a few hours. Not what I had expected.

Not too bad!
By Robert from Sherwood Park, AB on August 3, 2011
this are very handy and for the price they aren't bad. I used them in 12in lanterns and they worked well, but I'm not sure they provide enough light for bigger lanterns
Pros:
how easy they are to use
Cons:
they aren't very bright

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Hanging Battery Terminal For Lanterns

By Sharon from New York on June 25, 2012
Does "over 10" mean that you canNOT use them for 10" lanterns?
By Customer Service on June 25, 2012

Answer:
We apologize for the confusion. The Hanging Battery Terminal For Lanterns can be used for 10" and larger, but for 20" and larger, more than 1 may be needed per lantern. As brightness can vary by lantern shade and size. They last only from 5-7 hours, batteries are not included. Two AA batteries would be needed..They only provide a limited amount of lighting (2.5V). Each of them has to be turned on before event. (AIS-BT = Approx 5 watts).

By Katherine from Richmond, VA on June 26, 2012
Can you put more than one light per lantern or will it get too hot?
By Customer Service on June 26, 2012

Answer:
More than one terminal can be used per lantern. Our lanterns are not fire certified. However,we have tested our lanterns with standard household Type A 60 watt bulbs touching the side of a paper lantern. The most that occurred was that the portion touched turned slightly brown. We do recommend to practice common safety measures. As long as the bulbs are not touching the paper then the item should be fine.

Is there any way to make sure that these last longer than 5 hours? I have an event that will be more than 5 hours and I would hate to have to go through and replace batteries during the event if they go out. Thanks

Can this light be used to light a 16" lantern and would it be bright enough?
By Customer Service on July 2, 2012

Answer:
Battery Terminals (#AIS-BT) have an unlimited amount of spacing between each lantern. They last only from 5-7 hours, batteries are not included. Two AA batteries would be needed..They only provide a limited amount of lighting (2.5V). Each of them has to be turned on before event. (AIS-BT = Approx 5 watts). Recommended for lanterns10" to 20". Brightness may vary depending on the color shade. If wanting to light larger lanterns you may need to increase the quantity of terminals per lantern.

By Sue from Shaftsbury VT on March 9, 2012
If this says 10 inch lantern and above. Does that mean I need something else for the eight inch lanterns? And will this actually glow a 16 inch lantern?
By Customer Service on March 9, 2012

Answer:
For a 10" or 16" lantern the AIS-BT may give a soft glow. The brightness is dependent upon the darkness of color, time of day the terminals are used and if there is other lighting around. The AIS-BT is about 5 watts or comparable to a plug in night light. The AIS-BT will be same length of an 8" which will locate the bulb of the terminal right at the bottom, thus a little too long. A better option may be our LED2 or LED10-WW for an 8". Hanging battery options may be reviewed below: http://www.paperlanternstore.com/ledbaopdefor.html

By Customer Service on July 31, 2012

How do you connect the paper lantern to the hanging battery terminal, and how do you hang the battery terminal when its attached to the lantern?

By Customer Service on March 9, 2012

Answer:
If interested we can email you in office sample photos of how to assemble a lantern and hang the terminal inside. The AIS-BT is about 5 watts and is comparable to a plug in night light. The brightness is dependent upon size and color being used.

By kelly from green bay wi on June 2, 2012
