we have an outdoor gazebo that we want to decorate with home made paper lanterns. I am wondering whether this string of lights would be better or whether you would recommend the smaller string party lights

Answer:Design is up to preference. However, to help in your consideration you may want to consider bulb size, cord length and measurements of your gazebo you wish to cover. The 50 LED Large Ball String Light - White Color has an approximate bulb size of 3/4 of an inch. The 10 socket, 25 socket or 50 socket C7 electrical stringers have a bulb size of approximately 1.5 inches. The 3.5" Party String Lights have light strands similar to Christmas lights.

Can these be used with the paper lanterns? If so, which sizes would you recommend?

Answer:You would only be able to hang a lantern on every other bulb. The spacing between each bulb is only 4" wide, if you are planning to use an 8", then you can either skip a bulb or skip ever two bulbs. If you wish to use a 12" lantern, then you would need to skip every two bulbs.
