is the wire hanger insde able to attach to a cafe light bulb or xmas type lightd (like the little 3.5inch string light paper lanterns) or does it require a full sized bulb to attach to?

Answer:
The lantern does come with a rectangular metal frame. At the top of this frame there is a "C Hook." If using the cafe or "globe" shaped bulbs, the lantern would certainly be able to hook right onto the socket from the "C Hook."
