Are these open on the bottom? Can you put an candle in if it is in a glass vase?

Answer:
There is an approximate 5 inch on top and 3.5 inch bottom opening. There is a metal wire frame that will cross both opening and is about 1/16th thick. However, none of our items are fire certified and we do not recommend using an open flame. If using an LED tea light, then that may be an option. The Tea light is about 2 watts of a dim light: http://www.paperlanternstore.com/ledbaopca.html. Another issue may be that the lantern does not sit flat by itself. The metal wire frame will stick out slightly of the bottom opening, creating a tilt. Answer:
The lantern will have a slight tilt. The metal wire frame that is included, expands the lantern into shape. The wire expander also sticks out a bit on the bottom causing a slight tilt.
